COCC hosts AI Agents Workshop to advance environmental innovation and learning

On 2–3 July 2026, Coastal Oceanography and Climate Change Research Center (COCC) organized the Architecting Systems with AI Agents workshop at Room E401, 4th Floor, Faculty of Environmental Management, Prince of Songkla University. The event introduced participants to the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) agents, autonomous systems that can perform tasks and support decision-making, in research and real-world applications.

The speakers: Assoc. Prof. Jiajun Liu from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Assoc. Prof. Ponlachart Chotikarn, and Assoc. Prof. Sutinee Sinutok. Through a combination of lectures and hands-on sessions, they shared their expertise on AI agents, demonstrated practical applications, and explored how these technologies can support scientific research and innovation.

As part of the program, participants joined the AI for the Earth Hackathon, where they worked together to develop prototype innovations that apply artificial intelligence to address environmental challenges. The hackathon encouraged collaborative problem-solving while giving participants an opportunity to transform ideas into practical solutions.

The workshop highlighted how emerging AI technologies can enhance learning, strengthen research capabilities, and support innovative approaches to environmental issues. By combining expert guidance with interactive activities, participants gained practical experience that can be applied across a range of academic and professional settings.
