On 10 September 2026, the Coastal Oceanography and Climate Change Research Center (COCC), led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sutinee Sinutok and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mathinee Yucharoen, participated in the official opening ceremony of Songkhla Aqua Life 2026 at Central Hatyai.
As part of the event, COCC presented “The Coastal Canvas,” an educational exhibition designed to introduce visitors to the diversity and importance of coastal ecosystems. The exhibition featured stories and learning materials about seaweeds, seagrass meadows, coral reefs, and blue carbon ecosystems—coastal environments that naturally capture and store carbon while supporting marine biodiversity.

The exhibition also featured “Sea Craft,” a hands-on creative activity designed for children, young people, and members of the public. Through arts and crafts, participants had an opportunity to explore marine and coastal environments in a fun and accessible way, while developing greater appreciation for the natural resources found along Thailand’s coasts.
By bringing marine science into a public exhibition setting, The Coastal Canvas provided an opportunity for visitors to connect scientific knowledge with everyday experiences and better understand why healthy coastal ecosystems matter. The activity also demonstrated how creative and interactive approaches can make environmental knowledge more accessible to people of different ages and backgrounds.
Songkhla Aqua Life 2026 was held from 9–15 September 2026 at Central Hatyai, bringing together activities and learning opportunities focused on aquatic and marine environments. Through its participation, COCC contributed to public science communication and encouraged greater awareness of the importance of conserving Thailand’s coastal ecosystems.
