Coastal Oceanography and Climate Change Research Center (COCC) hosted a special lecture by Prof. Xixi Lu from the National University of Singapore (NUS) on the topic “Fluvial Sediment Supply: The Forgotten Foundation of Mangrove Resilience in a Changing Climate.”
In the lecture, Prof. Lu emphasized the critical role of riverine sediment supply in sustaining mangrove ecosystems, particularly under the pressures of sea-level rise and climate change. He highlighted how sediment dynamics influence coastal stability, carbon storage, and ecosystem resilience—key factors in long-term coastal management and climate adaptation strategies.
Prof. Lu also delivered an inspiring session for graduate students titled “Tips for Success in Graduate Studies (MSc. and PhD),” offering practical guidance on research planning, academic writing, international collaboration, and professional development.
