Coastal Oceanography and Climate Change Research Center (COCC) successfully concluded the workshop “NEXT-GEN BLUE CARBON TECH: Satellite & Drone Data Fusion with Python Integration”, held from 23–25 January 2026 in Trang Province.
The workshop combined classroom instruction with field-based learning to strengthen participants’ capacity in modern blue carbon monitoring. A key focus was the integration of satellite imagery and high-resolution drone data using Python-based analytical workflows, enabling more accurate and efficient coastal ecosystem assessment.
Participants also gained hands-on experience in seagrass and sediment sampling techniques, reinforcing the importance of field validation in supporting remote sensing analysis. By linking advanced geospatial technology with on-site ecological data collection, the training emphasized a comprehensive approach to monitoring carbon-rich coastal habitats.
The event featured distinguished speakers, including Asst. Prof. Dr. Sitthisak Moukomla from the Department of Geography, Thammasat University, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ponlachart Chotikarn, Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Management, Prince of Songkla University. Their contributions highlighted the growing role of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing climate change challenges.
This workshop represents an important step in empowering a new generation of researchers with the technical skills and scientific foundation necessary to support evidence-based climate action and sustainable coastal management.
